The Demon LoverThe Demon Lover by Juliet Dark

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First let’s say this book was not what I expected. When I received Demon Lover from Net Gallery I thought oh this looks good and it did not disappoint. The beginning the book started off a bit slow but do not get discouraged it moves along pretty fast and before you know it your half way done. There are some twists and turns in the novel which kept me very intrigued.

Juliet Dare writes this story in the first person; it flows nicely, easy to read and is well written. This seems to be her first book published under the name Juliet Dare, but she also writes under the name of Carol Goodman. Her writing style is good and I will check out both names to see what else is published out there.

So the story begins with us meeting Callie McFay, she is in the small town of Fairwick for an interview for a teaching position at the local college. As we get to know Callie we learn about the loss of her parents and her childhood spirit/shadow that comforted her at night by telling her stories like her parents used to.

As she is trying to settle in to her new home and job her spirit/ shadow returns to her at night and takes the form of a handsome and seductive man. Now her dreams have changed into him taking her body and ravishing her in the most satisfying ways. Callie soon figures out that these may not be dreams at all and things are starting to feel very real. She does not realize that she is being possessed by an incubus.

As Callie learns more about the town of Fairwich and figures out her dream lover is a demon who was banished to live in the shadow world and gains human form by feeding off his prey.

Everyone seems to be working together to cast out the demon/incubus, Callie is now very torn how will she be able to help banish her demon lover?

BulliedBullied by Jeff Erno

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of those books you come across that you think most people should read and maybe every school should put it on their reading list.

A collection of short stories some are very emotional to read but in my opinion was worth every tear I shed.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Excellent is all I can say.

Bear, Otter, and the KidBear, Otter, and the Kid by T.J. Klune

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is not just a love story between two men; this is a love story between two brothers and their friends. The story starts when Bear’s mother decides to leave her two son’s for a man, leaving a note and just over 100 dollars telling him to take care of Tyson his 6 year old brother and make sure to pay the rent each month.

The story is written in present tense and there is a lot of dialogue inside bear’s head, also some flashbacks to the past and present time. Even though the story was difficult to read it was written beautifully I was tempted a few times to skim some of the dialogue in Bears head as it felt like there was just too much. But I kept reading not allowing myself to put the book down. I will say it was worth the read, and I gave the book a 5 star rating.

The friendship between Creed, Otter and Bear is strong until Bear kissed Otter, Otter takes this change in Bears behaviour as something he may have pushed or somehow coerced Bear into feeling. Otter flees for 3 year, to cover this up. Bear has never been the same since the day Otter left, knowing deep down he feels like a part of him is missing.

The coming together, the struggles Bear faces when he realizes he is in love with a man, who happens to be his best friend’s older brother, and the daily struggles he has taking care of his brother and facing his mother years later. This is a story that I would recommend and is a must read.
