My ears lifted, pointed, flared out. My eyes burned, the particular sensation of my panther eyes coming forth. Another growl and my jaw lengthened, hardened, my nose now picking up every odor surrounding me, including the sickly odor of the poison flowing thick and strong beneath my skin.
My hands transitioned smoothly into paws, my fingernails curving into deadly-sharp claws. I stretched out, lengthened my back, and let the panther take control.

~~~~~
The lab was cold and silent as Logan breathed deep, drawing the fire through his body and centering the molten energy within his mind. The mouse shivered in his hand, its sickly green eyes staring up at him, its expression sad and seemingly pleading. The little, large-eyed white-furred creature had been shaved to reveal its bare skin, enabling Logan and the lab-techs to assess how well the fire was progressing in killing the poison.
~~~~~

As the glass hit the ground, water burst from it like a geyser, spraying droplets all over the kitchen. And all over me.
Good job, Odel. Now who's going to clean up this mess?
Lying where I fell, my face rested close to my poison-wreathed arm. I stared at it as it throbbed and pulsed, as if the poison had taken on a life of its own and was just waiting for the next moment to advance farther into my flesh.
Who knew a tiny piece of Wraith-sword could be this deadly?

Meet the Author

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

Go out and grab your copy today!!

ABOUT SAVOR:

New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy concludes her sexy Billionaire Bachelors Club series with a fiery romance that refuses to be left at the office…

Bryn James can’t take much more. Smart, sexy Matthew DeLuca is everything she wants in a man, but he’s also her boss—the youngest, hottest vineyard owner in the Napa Valley—and he doesn’t see her as anything more than his shy assistant. That’s all about to change. Armed with a hot new look and an attitude to match, Bryn is determined to catch Matt’s eye… professionalism be damned.

With his winery’s grand reopening approaching, Matt is trying to stay focused, but Bryn is suddenly making it very difficult. He’s always thought her prim demeanor effortlessly sexy, but Matt can’t deny that her transformation is jaw-dropping …and going to make it very difficult to keep his hands to himself. But when one thing leads to another and suddenly Matt is stripping Bryn bare, he’ll be faced with the biggest risk of his career—and his heart. Can he convince her—and himself—that this might just be more than a no-strings office affair?

EXCERPT:

“Don’t be so cranky. It’s okay to admit you have a thing for Bryn.” Ivy leans forward in her chair, a secretive smile curling her lips. “I have a feeling she has a thing for you too, you know.”

I do know. And I can’t act on it. Bryn James works for me. She’s my assistant. She’s by my side constantly; we spend more time with each other than probably anyone else in our lives, especially lately what with the winery’s grand reopening approaching. She’s a representative of my business. If I were to fuck around with the help and the relationship fell apart, I’d be in huge trouble. She could screw me over financially every which way by suing me for sexual harassment and I’d be left with a limp dick in my hand and a ruined business.

Yeah. Not going to take the chance. Saw it happen with my father. Not going to let it happen to me.

“It doesn’t matter. Nothing can happen.” I send Ivy a stern look. “And this conversation can never leave this office.” Glancing over her shoulder, I try to see if Bryn is at her desk but the chair is empty.

Thank Christ.

Ivy’s expression goes solemn and she holds up three fingers. “This conversation stays here. Scout’s honor.”

“You were never a scout,” I mutter, afraid she’s making a promise on an untruth. She’ll probably just blab to everyone. Or specifically Archer and Gage. I don’t need to hear their shit.

And I am worrying way too much over this.

She laughs again. “I won’t say a word, I promise. But I need to tell you something, Matt.” She leans in close, her voice dropping. “She’s got a major crush on you. You might not see it but it’s there—sounding in her voice, shining in her eyes, every time she looks at you, talks about you. The way her body turns into yours every time the two of you are together . . . it’s pretty obvious. A body language expert would have a field day with you two.”

Body language expert? What the hell is Ivy talking about? “I have no idea what you’re referring to, but office crushes are just that. Crushes. Harmless attractions no one ever acts on. Period. End of story.”

This is what I keep telling myself. I can’t pursue anything with Bryn, no matter how much I’m tempted to. Not only would it be wildly inappropriate, dating my assistant, but we come from two different worlds. She seems nice and normal, quiet and unobtrusive, and I am anything but. My life has been a circus sideshow for years.

“I get it. You’re trying to do the right thing, and I admire that. So, of course you don’t see anything beyond an efficient assistant in Miss James.”

Well. Ivy’s not too far off the mark. When I first met Bryn, she hardly said two words, kept her head bent when I spoke to her and offered lots of yes-sir and no-sir answers. She had this way of almost blending in with the walls, like she didn’t want anyone to notice her.

So I didn’t.

As we got comfortable working together though, something happened. I’m thinking Ivy had a hand in Bryn’s slow transformation. She actually makes eye contact when she speaks to me, and she’s become somewhat animated. Started to wear bolder colors as well, drawing my attention to her chest though I keep my eyes averted as best I can.

These subtle changes made me notice all of the little things—like the color of her eyes (blue), how her hair looks (like silk and I want to touch it), and the tempting fullness of her lips (they’re spectacular).

Her gaze lingers when she looks at me and sometimes so does mine. Her smile softens, her voice drops lower when she speaks, sparking my imagination. Would she sound like that right before I kissed her? Took off her clothes? Took her to my bed?

Yeah. All of those are dangerous thoughts. I almost prefer the old Miss James. The one who was like the wallpaper—boring and nondescript. Mean to say, but hell, the last thing I need is a distraction.

And she’s become the biggest distraction I’m currently facing. The very last one I need.

BEASTS OF BURDIN by Alexander Nader - Five ARCs Giveaway Tour

 J. Taylor Publishing are giving away FIVE ARCs of
Beasts of Burdin by Alexander Nader!
Check it out!

Demon hunter Ty Burdin hung up his guns, knife, trench coat and fedora a year ago. Bags packed, hands washed of all demon politics, he’s done. Forever. In fact, to get far far away, he dragged Nora, his rockabilly secretary, from Miami to the Tennessee mountains where he’s lived a life of peace—if peace can be defined as drowning in scotch and taking private eye jobs to keep the lights on. Jobs for real people. Not demons. No demons. He’s retired from that. Remember? Demon hunters aren’t a dime a dozen, though, and when Ty’s brother asks him for a favor—just one—what’s a brother to do? Agreeing to take down one hillbilly demon shouldn’t take that long. In. Decapitate. Out. Favor complete. Back to the office where Nora and his bottle of whiskey are waiting. Unfortunately for Ty, staying retired doesn’t seem to be in the cards, and an avalanche of bad luck draws him right back to an agency he despises and the career that nearly cost him his sanity. This time, Ty has no way out and will have to face his own demons just to survive.

BEASTS OF BURDIN is the first installment in an exciting and witty new urban fantasy series, featuring Ty Burdin, a retired demon hunter turned private eye. And J. Taylor Publishing is giving away FIVE ARC copies.

My Review:

A Little Too Hot (A Little Too Far #3) by Lisa Desrochers
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

A Little Too Hot is the 3rd book in A Little Too Far series by Lisa Desrochers, this book can be read as a standalone and you won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything. The only thing is I will say once you read this story you will really want to go back and read book 1 & 2 if you haven’t read them already. Lisa Desrochers has written an extremely well written novel, lots of romance, so very funny moments and of course a hot alpha male. The plot and characters were well written this entire novel flows really well and it is one of those book that is very hard to put down until you reach the end.

We meet Sam whose parents have just kicked her out of the house and cut her off financially because her lifestyle has just gotten her kicked out of college. Now she is in need of a job to survive and pay her rent once she finds a place to live at this point she is pretty much homeless. Thank god for her friend Jonathan he lets Sam stay at his place (short term) and even helps her secure a job as a dancer in a night club.

One of the first evening Sam has to dance we meet Harrison, Sam is instantly attracted to him and seems to almost dance better when he is around. Harrison makes an appearance a few times at the club and even pays for a few private dances and you can feel the heat level rise. Sam cannot help herself and breaks a few of the rules the night club has for all their dancer and lets Harrison touch her. Once night things go a bit too far!

But all is not what it seems and Sam is shocked when she finds out Harrisons has a big secret.
I cannot say anymore at this point without having to include spoiler alerts. I will say that this novel is worth the read and if you like strong characters, hot alpha males filled with action, suspense, romance then this is the novel for you.

I have rated A Little Too Hot a 4.5 and Lisa Desrochers has become an author I will defiantly be following to see what she comes up with next. I highly recommend A Little Too Hot!

Essence by A.L. Waddington (The EVE Series) - Blog Tour & Giveaway

SYNOPSIS of Essence, Book 1 in EVE series

Jocelyn Timmons does not believe she is anything special — just an ordinary high school senior, living an ordinary life full of school-work, volleyball and friends. She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

Jackson Chandler moved in to the house across the street. His dark wavy hair, green eyes and charismatic personality draws everyone to him. Everyone, but Jocelyn.

Whenever Jackson gets near Jocelyn she feels ill and dizzy. When he touches her, she blacks out and has visions of another life, in another time. As the odd hallucinations evolve and become clearer, she feels a strong pull towards the people she sees there. Frightened, she watches her once stable life begin to crumble around her and she begins to question her own sanity.

Could it be possible that these episodes are actually her own memories of a life she is living somehow, somewhere, some-when? Maybe this is time-travel or some other paranormal mysticism? Our minds often wander, but can our souls?

AUTHOR BIO

A.L. Waddington completed her undergraduate studies at University of Texas Dallas and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis with a BS in Psychology. Angela and her husband, Ty, have a son, two daughters, a puppy, and an oversized cat.  They reside in Indiana.

ENDORSEMENTS

“A. L. Waddington has taken the basics of the human psyche and creatively morphed them into a narrative that is both familiar and jarring. Like Jocelyn, the reader is thrust back and forth between stable reality and uncertain fantasy. Waddington uniquely captures the tumultuous nature of adolescence: the maddening taste of first love, the conflicting urges of youth and maturity, the tortured struggle for one’s identity. Young readers will instantly relate to the challenges faced by the characters in ‘Essence’.” Kevin Rand, PhD , Department of Psychology, Purdue School of Science, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)

“It was Captivating! Essence is so much more than your typical boy meets girl story. Don’t miss…”

Cynthia Hensley, YA author and Silver Medalist with Independent Book Publishers Association, the Benjamin Franklin Award, in Category of New Voice for “Echoes of Pemberley”.

“A. L. Waddington’s book is unique and interesting with characters I can relate to!”~Caitlin A. Janus, Avon Middle School South, Eight Grade

“This is an entertaining book that captures the spirit of youth and makes you wonder if there is more to those moments of déjà vu than you thought.”~Patricia Clark, PhD, Biology Department, Purdue School of Science, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis

“A very interesting look into our perception of reality and what happens when things suddenly are not what they seem. The world Jocelyn thinks she knows changes dramatically with the realization that she actually is living two different, but interconnected lives, in different times. As the boundaries between her two realities begin to crumble, she begins to question her own sanity. While reading the novel, one begins to ask the same question, ‘What exactly is our reality and how do we fit into the much larger scheme of things?’”~Bethany Neal-Beliveau, PhD, Psychology Department, Purdue School of Science, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

This Girl Stripped by Dawn Robertson - Cover Reveal

Book Description:

My innocence was shattered one steamy October night, when I sold my soul to the devil to pay for a week in a dirty motel room.

Thinking I could rid myself of him, I fled the safety of the nomad lifestyle I had embraced my entire life for the security of a small upstate New York town, alongside my big sister Star.

I am Paisley Bloom, and this is my devastating story.

She loves to hear from her fans, readers, and authors alike. Feel free to drop her a message.

Wicked Arrangement (The Bad Boy Billionaire's) by Maya Rodale

Book Description:

Meet Jane Sparks, librarian by day, aspiring writer by night.  She’s a modern day wallflower trying to make it in New York City. Jane’s discovered who’s the stranger she kissed at a fabulous party—but in a shocking and unexpected way.  Her friend has jokingly posted a Facebook announcement that Jane is engaged to none other than bad boy billionaire Duke Austen! Duke’s hard partying, playboy reputation is jeopardizing a 150 million-dollar investment deal and he needs to do major damage control. What’s the perfect solution? Settling down with a seemingly “good” girl like Jane. But he didn’t realize how alluring, irresistible and distracting Jane is.

Things with Jane and Duke are going better than expected, until Jane’s historical romance novel (The Wicked Wallflower) threatens to expose the whole charade. There are just too many uncanny similarities to her real-life whirlwind engagement…unless these perfect strangers can be perfectly scandalous together.

THE BAD BOY BILLIONAIRE’S WICKED ARRANGEMENT kicks off the sexy, new series and is the counterpart for Rodale’s recently published Wallflower series—a new historical romance trilogy!

Guest Post by Maya:

Who’s that girl? Meet the heroine who captured the heart of the bad boy billionaire
By Maya Rodale

What’s not to love about a bad boy billionaire? Modern day Wallflower Jane Sparks can’t think of any reasons not to…other than the possible broken heart. But his kisses are damn hard to give up. Here’s what you need to know about the girl who captures the heart of Duke Austen, the bad boy billionaire.

1. She’s a small town girl, living in the big city. After one really bad day in which she lost her job and got dumped by her boyfriend of twelve years, Jane does the sensible thing: ditches her small town life and moves to New York City for bigger and better adventures.

2. She’s a librarian by day…A lifelong book lover and librarian, Jane lands a job at the New York Public Library. True fact: I had a really awesome day researching NYPL! It’s definitely a great place to visit in the city.

3. …And a romance novelist by night. She’s always kept a stack of romance novels under the bed, but now she’s determined to write one. The problem: she doesn’t have an idea for a story. The solution: Duke Austen, the bad boy billionaire. He definitely gives her something to write about (and it’s The Wicked Wallflower, a historical romance).

4. The hero calls her Sweater Set. Because Jane wears sweater sets. She’s a good girl who plays by the rules, likes things just so and hasn’t done a daring thing in her life. Until now…Duke tempts her in ways she never imagined (and gives her pleasure she’s never imagined). Soon enough this good girl is breaking all the rules.

For more of Duke and Jane’s sexy romance, check out The Bad Boy Billionaire's Wicked Arrangement and The Bad Boy Billionaire’s Girl Gone Wild.

Question: Are you a small town girl or a city girl?

About the Author:
Maya Rodale began reading romance novels in college at her mother’s insistence. She is now the author of numerous smart and sassy romance novels. A champion of the romance genre and its readers, she is also the author of the non-fiction book Dangerous Books For Girls: The Bad Reputation Of Romance Novels, Explained and a co-founder of Lady Jane’s Salon, a national reading series devoted to romantic fiction. Except:

I drop his cockroach down the front of his button-down as we’re sitting on the train back to Manhattan, and catch a glimpse of his abs when he opens his jacket and shakes his shirt to let it drop out.

And … wow.

Brett has a great body, which he works at constantly. When he’s not at rehearsal or a performance, he’s at the gym. I wonder if Alessandro is a gym rat too.

We ride the L to Eighth Avenue and climb the stairs to the street. But we’re not halfway up the stairs when I feel something fall into my cleavage from my shoulder. I press my hand between my boobs to keep it from falling farther down my shirt and fish his cockroach out of my bra.

He stops and watches with a grin plastered to his face. “Well, that worked out better than I could have hoped.”

“Very mature.” I pinch the bug between my thumb and finger and shake it in his face. “When you least expect it …” I shove it in my pocket and run up the last few stairs. But then I don’t know where I’m going, so I have to wait.

Alessandro knows this, of course, and emerges from the pit a few seconds later with a smirk. “By all means, after you,” he says, sweeping his hand toward Eighth.

I glare and turn back for the subway. “You know what? I changed my mind.”

He has a handful of my jacket sleeve before I reach the stairs and spins me to face him, grasping both my upper arms.

My heart thumps hard as he catches me in his smoldering gaze. I can feel the heat of his body, even through all our layers of winter wear, and I shudder with the sudden mind-flash of how it would feel to be this close without all those layers. His lips part, as if he’s feeling the same rush I am, and I decide right in this heartbeat that if he kisses me, I’m going to kiss him back. I picture our lips meeting—imagine how his would feel as they moved on mine, how they would taste. His eyes flare as he dips his head, his lips pausing just inches from mine. I stop breathing again, caught between wanting to close those last few inches, and wanting to bolt.

But I can’t bolt.

Mine To Lose by T.K. Rapp - Book Tour

Mine To Lose
T.K. Rapp
Release Date: January 9, 2014

Book Description:

What happens when the fairy tale ends before it even begins?

Three years, two graduations, an engagement and a move to another state later, Emogen and Ryan are more in love than ever. He’s the one man she never expected to have and the only man she’s determined to keep. He’s her forever, and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for him.

Almost, that is.

Ryan announces that he’s accepted a job offer that requires yet another move. Angry he didn’t discuss his decision with her first, Emogen refuses to pack up and follow. She has a career, too, and she’s not ready to give it up.

Although determined to make the long distance thing work, their lives and careers begin to take a toll on the relationship, leaving them to wonder if they’re doing the right thing.

Sometimes love isn’t enough.

When you lose the one thing you are certain of, will you fight to get it back? Or will you let it go?

Excerpt:

Ryan’s eyes shift over my shoulder and his look is murderous. When I turn to see why, there is a man standing behind me.

Walk away, I think to myself.

The guy looks down at me, never making eye contact with Ryan, “You okay?”

“She’s fine,” I turn to face Ryan as he responds for me. “My wife and I were just leaving.”

I smirk at Ryan and his use of the term “wife,” before turning to see my would-be hero. He’s attractive; in fact, he looks like Joss’ type. The guy narrows his eyes assessing me and I give him a tight smile and nod that I am okay. He doesn’t look completely convinced, but I’m glad when he walks away. Part of me is grateful to see Ryan act out of sorts. But the other part of me is annoyed, because being the jealous guy isn’t his thing and now is the wrong time to start showing off his tough-guy act.

Authors Bio:
T.K. Rapp is a Texas girl born and raised. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Texas A&M and it was there that she met the love of her life. He had a contract with the U.S. Navy that would take them across both coasts, and ultimately land them back home in Texas.

Upon finally settling in Texas, T.K. worked as a graphic designer and photographer for the family business that her mom started years earlier. She was able to infuse her creativity and passion, into something she enjoyed, but something was still missing. There was a voice in the back of her head that told her to write, so write, she did. And, somewhere on an external hard drive, are several stories she started and never finished.
Now at home, raising her two daughters, T.K. has more time to do the things she loves, which includes photography and writing. When she’s not doing one of those, she can be found with her family, which keeps her busy. She enjoys watching her kids in their various sporting activities (i.e. doing the soccer mom thing), having Sunday breakfast at her parent’s house, singing out loud and out of key or dancing like a fool. She loves raunchy humor, gossip blogs and a good book.

New Adult Contemporary Romance

Book Description:

In the follow-up to Lisa Desrochers’ explosive New Adult novel A Little too Far, Alessandro Moretti must face the life he escaped and the girl he loved and left behind.

Twenty-two year old Hilary McIntyre would like nothing more than to forget her past. As a teenager abandoned to the system, she faced some pretty dark times. But now that’s all behind her. Hilary has her life on track, and there’s no way she’ll head back down that road again.

Until Alessandro Moretti—the one person who can make her remember—shows up on her doorstep. He’s even more devastatingly gorgeous than before, and he’s much too close for comfort. Worse, he sees right through the walls she’s built over these last eight years, right into her heart and the secrets she’s guarding.

As Hilary finds herself falling back into love with the man who, as a boy both saved and destroyed her, she must decide. Past or future? Truth or lies?
