Someone Else's LifeSomeone Else's Life by Katie Dale

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book from NetGallery to read and review.

Katie Dale did an amazing job with this book, it is well written and her writing brings out true emotions for all the characters in this story. To me this is a sign of a great author.

So it begins with Rosie who's mother Trudies dies from Huntington's disease, reading Rosie struggles and her loses so she could take care of her mother, the affects of this disease on Rosies' life is heart wrenching.

Then Rosie finds out through her mom's best friend that Trudie was not her birth mother and that she was switch at birth. As Rosie embarks on her search to find her birth mother she finds more then she bargained for.

The story seems very real at times and you can imagine how this would affect other people lives and feelings. Then there were times when I was really disappointed in Rosie's actions and the decisions she made. It was like she forgot to think of how this would effects others and not in a good way. So not sure if it was the authors intent or not but at these points the story didn't feel as real as I first thought.

Even though there were a times when I was disappointed with the story I didn't put the book down. If anything I thing one of the main reasons a person should read this book is for the awareness of Huntington's disease.

I think Katie Dale did a great job shedding some light on the disease which I actually have never really heard of or just didn't pay attention to. There is no cure and it must be heart breaking on the families who have to watch their loved ones with this disease.

Elemental: The FirstElemental: The First by Alexandra May

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What can I say first about this book well you know when you’re reading a good book and you don't stop till you reach the end, that's what this book was for me. And then you reach the end you and you want the next book right NOW. Searching you find that it’s not released yet and you curse under your breath. Well that's what happened when I finished this book. LOL

It is written well I really liked Alexandra May writing; it flowed and was easy to read. I will read anything she writes at this point.

I enjoyed all the characters, Daisy is not your typical grandmother, and she gives Rose freedom to make her own decisions and expects Rose to give her the same back.

This story has a drama, mystery and of course romance 2 handsome young men, both who Rose has some connection with.... So who does end up with humm guess we will have to see is it Morgan or will it be Aiden?

This series is going to be good; I hope Alexandra is writing fast so we can continue on with this exciting series.

Book Description From Goodreads:

ROSE Frost receives a bracelet on her sixteenth birthday, a parting gift from her mother who claims it is a family heirloom. From that night Rose starts having vivid dreams and strange visions.

DAYS after, her family separate and Rose moves into her grandmother's house. Rose remembers happy childhood holidays with her grandmother, and is eager to rekindle her friendship with Hannah and Mira, the two girls she played with as a child. Rose's dreams start to involve a woman called Halíka Dacomé. A legend or a figment of her imagination, she knows not, but her grandmother, Daisy, remains reluctant to talk it.

DANGER strikes one night. Rose is first on the scene after she smells burning and discovers a car that has been purposely set on fire. She is convinced that the boy in her latest vision is inside the car. The mysterious Aiden Deverill pulls Rose to safety, but not before a window explodes and a ball of fire burns them both. She uses her secret healing gift to heal the scars and to all appearances remains unscathed.

But Aiden is free from burns too and Rose doesn't know why.

She is drawn to his alluring smile, his gorgeous dark looks and hypnotising blue eyes, but as they get closer her friends warn her off claiming that he's bad news.

Rose tries to find the truth about Halika Dacomé and more about why Aiden is so disliked, but she soon gets drawn into helping her friends solve the mystery behind the missing Warminster townsfolk. The latest missing person is her new friend Jez's father.

During the investigation she meets Morgan, a family friend of Daisy's who lives in the cottage at the bottom of Daisy's garden. He's kind, funny and clearly devoted to her, but Rose finds out that his hatred towards Aiden and his grandfather, Ben Deverill, lies rooted in a shocking event that happened years before involving both families.

For Rose, her new life is beginning but she soon realises that people are not always what they seem, and finds it difficult to determine who to trust.

What she always believed to be a happy family and a friendly town soon turns on its head when she discovers that her family secret, Aiden Deverill and the truth behind Halíka Dacomé is at the heart of the whole conspiracy.

EnchantmentEnchantment by Charlotte Abel

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Enchantment by Charlotte Abel

Reading this story it reminded me of young love and the wanting and dreaming of meeting your very own Prince Charming. This is one of those stories that you see the story unfolding and you turn every page to make sure it’s going to happen. The writing is great, easy to read, words flow so you just keep reading till you reach the end.

The story begins with Channie (Enchantment) moving to a new city with her family, her father is on the run from a very powerful family, he owes them a huge gambling debt, this family is well known and will not just want money they may even kill Channie’s (Enchantment) family to get revenge on her father.

Starting at a new school is hard enough but to be living around non magic humans is a whole other complication. Channie (Enchantment) meets Josh and their amazing almost fairy tale story begins.

All I can say is this book is well written its about love, magic, awful parents, dreams, hopes and its touching funny and you just want the best for Channie and Josh.

I will be keeping an eye out for a sequel.

If you’re looking for a heart warming read this is the book to read.

Charlotte Abel is an amazing author/storyteller.

The CallingThe Calling by Ashley Lynn Willis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I've read by Ashley Lynn Willis and first I would say thank you for the free copy to review.

I enjoyed her writing style and will definately keep her on my list to read any future books she writes.

So the story is about Justin and Mandy, Justin is a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer and Mandy is trying to live life after surviving breast cancer and heartbreak. Of course you fall in love with both charecters and want them to live happy ever after. I didn't stop reading this book last night and found myself up till 4 am trying to finish it. Sex scences were great.

It is a paranormal romance book but unlike other paranormal books this is not the focus of the book. It was a great read and I gave it 4 stars, I would of given it 4.5 if available to do that.

Bulletproof (A Matter of Time #5)Bulletproof by Mary Calmes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not to sure what to write about this book so here is what the book description is:

Sequel to A Matter of Time I & II

Jory Harcourt doesn't have to go looking for trouble. Wherever he goes, it seems to find him—particularly when his partner, Sam Kage, is working undercover on a federal task force.

After the recession forces him to close his business, Jory goes to work as a matchmaker and event planner. From there, it's only a matter of time before his big mouth and up-front attitude make him the rope in a tug-of-war between a trust fund baby and a drug-smuggling criminal. Then, as if that situation weren't delicate enough, Jory's undercover lover shows up working for the smuggler.

Between the men who want him and the men who just want him dead, Chicago is getting a little crowded for Jory, so on the advice of his brother, his boyfriend, and the FBI task force, he heads for Hawaii... where a serious accident threatens his quality of life. Can Sam and Jory keep the faith and prove that their relationship really is bulletproof

I do enjoy Mary Calmes writing it is easy to read and she writes extremly well.

The Burdens of TruthThe Burdens of Truth by Etienne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In this story Etienne writes about four new characters; Dr. Ian Sanderson who teaches and Georgetown and his partner Lt.Colornal Randy Richardson who works at the Pentagon and both men have a teenage son. We also get to read about some familiar faces from a earlier Avondale book.

The story involves kidnapping of the two sons, escape, a couple close calls as the kidnappers try to get the boys back, and a new budding romance for a marine.

Etienne writing keeps you turning the pages. His writing is descriptive and detailed as in his past books he describes the food and restaurants so well you really want to go try it out. I even tried one of the wines that were mentioned in a previous book.
