Until he met Dez, Kale’s days were filled with violence and death. He was used as a weapon of destruction by the power hungry men of Denazen. He’s a Six. A person with an abnormal ability. Some people call them gifts, but not Kale. Kale’s touch means instant death to anyone.
But now there's Dez, the girl he can touch, and they're hunting down Sixes and warning them about Denazen. Kale is learning about the world outside captivity and trying to put his dark past behind him. But they underestimated how badly Denazen wanted him back.
When Dez sacrifices herself to save the new Six they'd rescued from falling into the corp's hands, Kale is lost. Denazen has brought out its best to get the job done. Samsen, a nightmare from Kale’s past—the only person he’s ever truly feared—has come for them, and it soon becomes obvious he has his own twisted agenda.
Kale will need all his training to get Dez back and ensure they all make it out, free—and alive. But will it be enough?
My Review:
Untouched is a short novella, all told from Kale’s point of view, the interesting thing about the story being told by Kale is that he sees things very different from everyone else due to he was locked up and isolated for a very long time. Since he has never experiences everyday things we get to see firsthand his confusion and lack of humor. I have to say it was great reading this story from Kale’s point of view.
Kale and Dez have set out to track down other Sixes, warning them of the Denazen Corp and offering them a safe place to go. Of course people from the Denazen Corp are right behind them trying to capture Kale once again. Kale and Dez will have to fight for their lives and Kale knows that no matter what he has to keep Dez safe. Dez is the only person he can touch without killing them and Kale would do anything to protect her.
Jus Accardo has done an excellent job writing this short novella, the story is written extremely well and of course you never set it down till you reach the end. I cannot wait to read book 2 in this series….....Toxic is to be released in September 2012.
Oh yes and the cover is fantastic.
Jus Accardo is the author of YA paranormal romance and urban fantasy fiction. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald. When not writing, Jus can be found volunteering at the local animal shelter or indulging her passion for food. After being accepted to the Culinary Institute of America, she passed on the spot to pursue a career in writing and has never looked back. As far as she’s concerned, she has the coolest job on earth—making stuff up for a living.
I'd like to Welcome Jus Accardo to myBlog
Now Enjoy the Interview:
1. Did you always want to be a writer? And what inspired you to write?
I’ve always loved writing. When I was a kid and the stories didn’t end the way I wanted, I rewrote them the way *I* felt they should have ended ;)
2. Which character you had most fun writing?
That’s a tough one. I had so much fun with all of them. Kale was awesome because he was so innocent. And Dez was fantastic because she was so vibrant and full of life. Samsen, the bad guy, was a blast too. So, yeah. No. Totally can’t pick just one!
3. What are your current projects?
I’m working on the next book in the Denazen series as well as a few super-secret side projects.
4. Do you see writing as a career?
It’s pretty much all I do, so yeah I spend anywhere between 12 and fifteen hours a day doing it. It’s a full time job and I love every second of it.
5. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I always wanted to be either a chef or an author. I grew up around both food and books, so it was a pretty close call. In the end though, fiction won out!
6. What were your feelings when your first novel was accepted/when you first saw the cover of the finished product?
It was pretty surreal. When I got the first copies of TOUCH in the mail, I think I sat there staring at them for a good hour, with a goofy grin on my face.
7. Who designed the covers?
So far, all my covers have been designed by my editor, Liz Pelletier. I think everyone is in agreement that she has awesome hot-guy-eye. Am I right?
8. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Walking away. I get tunnel vision when I’m working. I forget that there’s an outside world. Dishes pile up, the dog hair gathers in the corners, and my poor husband starves!
Any last thoughts or words of wisdom you would like to share with the readers?
Thank you for having me today. :D And thank you to all my readers for your continued support!
