One fateful night during high school Katie Wright loses everything: her father, the first man she ever loved, dies in a car accident and Chris Staller, the first boy she’s ever loved, breaks her heart. Fast-forward ten years and Katie is a beautiful, successful woman who has spent the past decade doing her best to make her life all about work, keeping everyone at arms length—friends and lovers alike. But she’s lonely and beginning to awaken to the fact that pretending to be happy and content doesn’t mean she actually is. Working through her emotional challenges while maintaining a stellar career reputation has been tricky, but she’s always determined to come out on top.
Paying a visit to her old high school, Katie runs into Chris, now a dedicated PE teacher who pines for the one he let get away: her. An upstanding member of the community and a much better man than he was a boy, Chris is determined to win Katie back at all cost. But Katie is less than receptive to the idea, and when he lays down a challenge, she is determined to come out on top again.

My Review:
Kelly Rae writing is really good, I loved this book of course I read it all in one sitting as I always have to know how it’s going to end. Sometime a good romance novel is all I need to have a relaxing day and this book did not disappoint. This is Kelly’s debut novel, I enjoyed her writing style and loved the characters and the descriptions were well written. I would say excellent writing Kelly and thank you for letting me read and review your book.
So What If....what if you walk into a room and see the boy you love kissing a girl....and then you call home crying asking your dad to come pick you up. What If he never makes it to you? Oh god poor Katie heart at the moment is broken by the two men she loved the most in this world. This had me and I had to read it.
So ten years you move back to your home town, and low and behold so has the love of your life. What If you still have feelings for him? And to be honest not all feelings are good. Laying blame on the one who destroyed your life or so you think. Can Katie and Chris find each other again, can Katie forgot and forgive. Does Chris even know what happened? OMG you have to read this book...What If.....
Ok so I loved this story...go purchase it now! Excellent debut novel by Kelly Rae.
Hello and thank you for having me here today to talk about WRITING. Since it is my favorite thing in the world, it won’t be too difficult a task, I dare say. I thought I would talk about the aspect of writing involving music. How is this you say? Music in writing? Why yes, it’s true and here’s how…
Well, it would be pretty dull to sit around typing for hours at a time with the only noise being that of my fingers on the keyboard or the washing machine, which I can hear from my writing spot (sigh). So, I pump up the volume and jam the whole way through, most days. Generally, each book has a certain list of go to songs that become my play list each day. I often start out listening to a bunch of things and then at some point it becomes clear that I keep going back to the same album or the same artist. This is the then playlist of my book.
For What If…, Dave Matthews Band was the musical path through my book. The soothing voice of Dave Matthews himself was perfect for the sweet moments, some of the songs have a sexy tone that were great for the tension moments and the overall sentiment of love and faith were so in line with what I was hoping to achieve in What If…that the words, on most days, just flowed.
Without further ado, here is the soundtrack for my writing days on What If… Dave has sooooo many albums, including an extensive live album collection that you might be able to find the songs on different albums than the one I quote. With a quick search on iTunes, surely you can find them all, and give a little listen. I am all for making them new fans. (The highlighted ones were the most influential!)
1. You and Me (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King – Track 13)
2. Why I am (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King – Track 5)
3. Seven (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King – Track 10)
4. Lying in the Hands of God (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King – Track 4)
5. Why I Am (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King – Track 5)
6. When the World Ends ( Everyday – Track 2)
7. Angel (Everyday – Track 8)
8. Fool to Think (Everyday – Track 9)
9. Sleep to Dream Her (Everyday – Track 10)
10. When the World Ends (Everyday – Track 2)
11. Dreamgirl (Stand Up – Track 1)
12. Out of My Hands (Stand Up – Track 8)
13. Hello Again (Stand Up – Track 9)
14. Steady as We Go (Stand Up – Track 13)
15. The Best of What’s Around (Under the Table and Dreaming – Track 1)
16. Typical Situation (Under the Table and Dreaming – Track 5)
17. Love Lay Down (Under the Table and Dreaming – Track 8)
These are the songs that made my heart sing enough for my mind to write what I hope you will find is a love story filled with hope and possibilities. Katie is a stubborn woman, but when a man is willing to be reasonably patient, while still maintaining his persistence, even the most stubborn girl will swoon eventually. Dave Matthews Band makes me swoon and I sure hope that while you are reading What If… you enjoy meeting my friends Katie and Chris and please do take a listen to the soundtrack.
I won’t be close enough to the band this September when I see them in concert, but perhaps this will count as a little thank you for the inspiration. The inspiration to make characters that are warm, strong, and that have an exceptional capacity to love.
Thank you for joining me here today to learn a bit about me and if you are interested in reading about my friends you can find them in What If… now on sale in eBook and paperback on Amazon and Barnes&Noble and eBook only on Smashwords, KOBO and Diesel.
